Robinson High School's production of Midsummer/ Jersey Nominated for Ten Cappie Awards

The nominees for the National Capital Area Cappie Awards were announced this week and Robinson High School's world premiere production of Ken Ludwig's Midsummer/Jersey received a total of ten nominations. Awards will be presented at the 13th Annual Cappies Awards Gala at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall on Sunday, June 10th.Robinson High School students, under the direction of Douglas "Chip" Rome, produced the world premiere of Ken Ludwig's Midsummer/Jersey in November of 2011.The list of nominations includes:Best PlaySet; Sound; Makeup; Creativity (under-boardwalk musicians)Best Ensemble-The Mechanicals (hairdressers)Featured Actor (Jamie Green-Robert)Comic Actress (Carys Meyer-Nicki Bottom)Comic Actor (Adam Bradley-Puck)Supporting Actor (Dan Barr-Oberon)West Field High School's production of Crazy For You received 17 nominations, including Best Musical.The full list of nominations for the National Capital area is available on the Cappies Website.What are the Cappies?The Cappies, "Critics and Awards Program," is a program through which high school theater and journalism students are trained as critics, attend shows at other schools, write reviews, and publish those reviews in local newspapers like The Washington Post, Cincinnati Enquirer, Dallas Morning News, Kansas City Star, and The Philadelphia Inquirer.At the end of the year, the student critics vote for awards that are presented at a formal Cappies Gala. In July and August, many of the top award honorees from around the U.S. and Canada are invited to participate in the Cappies International Theater, where they perform shows at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
