The Adventures of Tom Sawyer 'The perfect holiday show for the whole family!'

Lakewood Playhouse continues its 71st season with a marvelous musical version of TOM SAWYER, presented over the holiday season. Based on the novel by Mark Twain this is the story of a fourteen-year-old boy growing up in the heartland of 1840s America, in St. Petersburg, Missouri, a bustling town on the banks of the Mississippi River. In the course of the story, Tom matches wits with his stern Aunt Polly, falls in love with the beautiful, feisty Becky Thatcher, and goes on the adventure of his life with Becky and that irresistible renegade, Huckleberry Finn. Song titles include Hey, Tom Sawyer, Ain’t Life Fine and I Can Read.TOM SAWYER was adapted by Ken Ludwig with music by Don Schlitz. It is director Marty Mackenzie. The set is designed by Larry Hagerman, costumes designed by Frances Rankos, lighting designed by Kris Zetterstrom, and sound designed by Joe Kelly. Music direction is by Lisa Sutter and choreography by Tani Wright. The cast includes Jonathan Hogue, Aaron Berryhill, Kat Christenson, Karen Christensen, and Tim Takechi among many others.TOM SAWYER runs December 11th, 2009 through January 17th, 2010 (the show will close for a Christmas/New Year’s break on December 20th, and re-open January 7th), Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, and Sundays at 2pm. Ticket are $24 general reserved seating, $21 senior and military, $18 age 16 to 25, and $16 age 15 and under. Special group rates are available. There will be one Pay-What-You-Can performance Thursday January 7th, 2010 at 8pm, and an Actor Benefit performance at 2pm Saturday January 16th, 2010.
