Hunter Foster stars in Lend Me A Tenor at Cape Playhouse

Then he picked up a Tony nomination as Seymour in the revival of "Little Shop of Horrors."He's spent the summer here in New England, performing from Williamstown to Ogunquit. He opens next Monday at the Cape Playhouse in Ken Ludwig's slamming-door comedy, "Lend Me A Tenor."Chatting from New York he said, "It's been kind of crazy, but fun at the same time. Ogunquit is one of my favorite places in the world, it was the first time I've been to The Berkshires, and the Cape Playhouse is beautiful. I love it up there."Hunter was also in the final cast of "The Producers" when it closed on Broadway, having played Leo Bloom on and off over several years. He said, "I think 'The Producers' will go down (in history) with 'Hello Dolly' and 'The Music Man' as one of the big musicals of our generation. It was a great experience to know that I was actually part of that show."This fall, he opens off-Broadway in "Frankenstein, The Musical." Ironically, Mel Brooks' new musical "Young Frankenstein" opens the following night with a cast that includes Hunter's sister, Sutton Foster, and Roger Bart, who often traded off playing Leo Bloom with Hunter.He said, "Roger is playing Dr. Victor Frankenstein (in the Brooks version) and I'm playing Victor in this one."
